SAG Awards Nominating Committees Chosen T his year’s SAG Awards film and television nominating committees — each consisting of 2,100 members from around the country — were selected at random by computer April 1 and notified by mail. To be eligible, November 2010 dues must have been paid by March 18, 2011. Any member chosen for a particular committee becomes ineligible to be selected for that same committee for the next five years. Members on each committee are offered invites to “for your consideration” screenings, Q&As, and DVDs in order to view and vote for the outstanding performances of the year. Committee members whittle the hundreds of submitted performances down to the top five in 15 different categories. Service on each committee ends on December 12, 2011, when nomination ballots are due. The second stage of voting will begin once nominations are announced on December 14. All active, paid-up SAG members are eligible to vote for the recipients of the 18th Annual SAG Awards. To qualify to vote — and receive any “for your consideration” offers from the studios — you must pay your November 2011 dues by December 16. Balloting information will be mailed out on January 2, 2012.
