Some may discuss Sanders' socialism; others may remember that Sanders has not backed third-party presidential campaigns. As the senator told The Nation, "The dilemma is that, if you run outside of the Democratic Party [you would be] making it easier for some right-wing Republican to get elected — the [Ralph] Nader dilemma." As a direct consequence of the disastrous "Citizens United" Supreme Court decision, large corporations and billionaires can now spend unlimited amounts of money to influence the political process, writes Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in Common Dreams. Among the best poised to benefit from "Citizens United" are Charles and David Koch, owners of the second-largest privately run business in America, Koch Industries. According to Forbes, the Koch brothers are worth $80 billion, and are already contributing large sums to advocate for conservative issues. In 1980, David Koch ran as the Libertarian Party's vice presidential candidate. The party's platform may offer useful insights into the policy affinities of the Kochs.
