"Our philosophy at The Venetian is based entirely on the experience of the guest," says Wagner. "Delivery, interaction, little touches—it's all about how you personalize it for every guest so you're not just selling rooms or drinks, you're creating memories." This is especially evident in their special events, such as the upcoming Winter in Venice Holiday Celebration. With 49 days of tree-lighting ceremonies, light projection shows, parades and a skating rink above The Venetian's outdoor Grand Canal, the event offers special memories for everyone. Inspired by the fictional Sunset Strip bar featured in the Broadway hit Rock of Ages, the current show in residence at The Venetian, The Bourbon Room is all about memories—creating new ones, as well as looking back on the rockin' '80s. The only thing cooler than the classic rock tunes played by nightly VJ's are the selections of bourbon offered, including three single-barrel custom blends. Offering its selection neat (with Vinturi aeration recommended, see sidebar), in flights accompanied by caramel popcorn and maple bacon or in a signature cocktail, The Bourbon Room has something for those just diving into the whiskey world all the way to the most educated bourbon connoisseurs. On the Aer with Vinturi "When I first encountered the Vinturi, I was amazed, says Wagner. "I knew about the red " and white wine aerators, but when I tested the spirit aerator, it was a whole new adventure. I knew we had to incorporate it into our programs. It allows us to tie it into their memories of The Venetian. Whether it is their first encounter with the aerator or their one-hundredth, providing that service only adds to their memories. " So what does Wagner notice when he has aerated bourbon? "It becomes softer, more accessible and, in a way, more complex.
