To wax philosophical for a moment, I think all the work we create, all the worlds we build, along with the walls and windows and doors, we always build into them a bit of our own history. For me, road trips with my grandparents during the 1960s were always magical in the most simple way. They (unlike my 'classier' parents) stopped in all the tourist traps, where culturally inappropriate mixes of cultures (Native American! Mexican! dinosaurs!) lived side- by-side among the trinket shops and plywood saguaros. This kind of fun, innocent nostalgic America is what I brought to The Boroughs town square. A vision of America that is both emotionally warm and very truthfully utterly untrue. The whole experience of designing and building it was emotional to me, and I can honestly say that if I ever have to be eaten by suspected inter-dimensional monsters, this is the place I would choose to do it. Manor/Memory Center A great meta-twist on building the manufactured reality of The Boroughs is that it includes an entire set that is a manufactured reality of the manufactured reality. The Memory Care Unit of the senior living facility is a distillation and recreation of the giant town square; it includes D. TOWN SQUARE LOOKING TOWARD SENOR COCINA AND COMMUNITY CENTER. SET PHOTO.
