PRODUCTS www.postmagazine.com 33 POST NOV/DEC 2022 EPIC GAMES UPDATES METAHUMAN TOOL CARY, NC — Epic Games (www. epicgames.com) has released an update to its MetaHuman tool that makes it easier to share, collaborate and iterate on characters. The new release also introduces a new DNA Calibration Library, enabling users to customize their MetaHumans in new ways and inte- grate them into proprietary pipelines. Sharing MetaHumans is now much easier. Users can simply download a dig- ital human's description as a MetaHuman binary file from MetaHuman Creator and send it to a recipient using their preferred method, such as email or Google Drive. Upon receipt, they can instantly view a copy of that MetaHuman by uploading the file to Creator. For teams working on characters, this new approach provides a faster way to collaborate on and refine assets. And because each MetaHuman can now be described in a single text file, teams can use their own versioning systems to track versions and iterations. MetaHuman DNA contains all the parameters that contribute to the form of each MetaHuman's head. As part of this release, the MetaHuman DNA Calibration Library is now available, which includes both a C++ and a Python API, as well as a DNA Viewer application that enables users to import DNA files into Autodesk Maya. With these tools, users can edit MetaHuman DNA files in a number of ways. The library, which is pre-compiled for Windows and Linux, is available on the Epic Games GitHub repository. LUMATOUCH RELEASES LUMAFUSION FOR CHROMEOS AND ANDROID SEATTLE, WA — LumaTouch (www.luma-touch.com) has announced the early release beta version of LumaFusion for ChromeOS and Android, which are now available for download from the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. LumaFusion is a multi-track video editor that was already available for iOS. While LumaFusion for ChromeOS and Android is an entirely new software application from LumaTouch, the LumaFusion experience and workflow will be familiar regardless of the device users choose. Early customers of the beta version will receive a 30 percent discount off the list price of $29.99, and will also receive the updated final shipping version when it becomes available at the end of this year. LumaFusion's editing features include the ability to layer up to six video and six audio tracks. There are visual effects tools for green screen, luma & chroma keys, blurs, distort, styles and color grading. Speed effects allow users to create slow-motion or fast-motion clips in forward or reverse. They can also edit timelapse videos. Audio tools allow for keyframing levels, panning and EQ-ing. There are also settings for ducking music when dialogue is present. Title tools allow users to create multi-layer titles with shapes and images, as well as adjust font, color, face, border and shadow. Editors can create projects in a variety of aspect ratios, and there is support for frame rates ranging from 18 to 240fps. In addition to working with media on the user's device, LumaFusion also allows cre- ators to link to media on USB-C drives, as well as to import media from cloud storage. ALTEON.IO DELIVERS FCP EXTENSION TO ENABLE CLOUD WORKFLOWS BURBANK, CA — Content creators using Apple's Final Cut Pro can now share files more quickly and securely with a new workflow extension from Alteon.io, a comprehensive cloud-based hub. Rather than shipping hard drives between collaborators, users can upload files directly to Alteon's secure cloud storage platform. With a single click, creators can then share media with anyone in the world, setting permissions and optional expiration dates for added security. After installing Alteon's workflow extension for FCP, users can download their media from Alteon directly into Apple's nonlinear editing system, where they can view and edit their footage. Collaborators with access to the project in Alteon can then download the original file or an automatically-generated proxy. The result is a faster, easier way to share and store media, bypassing cumbersome IT setups and physical hard drive shipments. The extension is available for free, and then there are several subscription plans to choose from. The Basic plan is free and provides 10GBs of storage for unlimited projects. The Standard plan is $9.99/user/month and offers 250GBs of storage, along with unlimited projects. And the Premium plan is $29.99/ user/month, providing up to 1TB of storage for unlimited projects. Enterprise pricing is also available.
