PRODUCTS www.postmagazine.com 32 POST NOV/DEC 2022 CREATION EFFECTS' LANDSCAPER SIMPLIFIES ENVIRONMENT DESIGN GREENSBORO, NC — Landscaper, from Creation Effects (CreationEffects.com), is an Adobe After Effects template that's designed for building and animating 3D landscapes. Priced at $99, it includes 30 finished landscapes that range from beaches to jungles to deserts and alien worlds. Users can render these comps as they are, or customize them to suit their individual needs. For those who want to create their own unique landscape, they can start with a 3D ground plane and add water, sky, stars, sun or moon imagery. After selecting images for their ground plane and sky, users can create puddles, rivers, lakes or ocean shorelines by drawing the shape of the body of water with the pen tool on the ground-plane layer. Landscape elements, such as rocks, flowers, trees and mountains, can be added to the scene from the Element Library — a collection 1,000 high-resolution, trans- parent-background images that are searchable by keyword. Elements are copied and pasted into the landscape, then moved into position along the ground plane and scaled as needed. A variety of effects are included for enhancing scenes, such as haze, fog, wind, birds, insects, waterfalls and 3D titles. Once the landscape is populated with elements and effects, it can be customized via easy-to-use slider con- trols. A single 'clock' control allows users to set the time of day, controlling the lighting and colors of the scene, as well as the position of the sun, moon and stars. Keyframing the clock control creates a timelapse effect, causing all moving elements to speed up according to the speed of the clock. Lastly, the 3D camera can be keyframed to create move- ment through the landscape. Landscaper is compatible with Adobe After Effects 18.x (2021) and up, and no plug-ins are required.
