SONY PICTURES IMAGEWORKS (www.imageworks.com) in Cul- ver City has purchased three Spheron-VR SpheroCam high dynamic range capture devices.The SpheroCam can record a full spherical HDR image in a single scan.The unit also has the ability to automati- cally capture HDR lighting environments and 3D data. Imageworks plans on incorporating the camera into its VFX-for-film toolset.The camera is well suited for recording 3D point data, using its 3D im- mersive measurement technology. Burbank’s MATCHFRAME VIDEO (www.matchframevideo.com) has closed its doors after 20 years of providing post services, including audio, editing, telecine,VFX, duplication and restoration.The studio has worked on shows such as Hell’s Kitchen,The Real Housewives of Orange County and Ultimate Cake Off. KODAK (www.kodak.com) is offering a new iPhone application for filmmakers.The Depth of Field Calculator has fields for entering known data — such as film format, F-stop, focal length and subject distance — and then computes the near limit, far limit, hyperfocal dis- tance and circle of confusion. Results can be in feet or meters, and calculations can be made for any combination of remaining variables. The app also includes a “Contact” tool for instant access to a nearby Kodak office for product supplies, or to reach a Kodak rep to answer prepro, production or post questions.The app is available via iTunes. RINGSIDE CREATIVE (www.ringsidecreative.com) in Oak Park, MI, has formed RSC Productions, which will offer clients content produc- tion services for broadcast, cinema and the Web.
