PEOPLE BRIAN BOWMAN Nice Shoes, a NYC-based design, animation, vi- sual effects and color grading studio, has added Brian Bowman to its team. He will head the company’s design department, serving as creative director. Bowman came to Nice Shoes after spending time as creative director at Digital Kitchen and as a designer at Tronic Studios. His hir- ing is part of the studio’s long-term growth strat- egy, which included the merging of design and ani- mation company Freestyle Collective into Nice Shoes’ operations late last year. BOWMAN SYBIL MCCARTHY Edit house Beast has hired Sybil McCarthy as executive producer of its LA facility. She spent the past two-and-a-half years working as a freelance agency producer as part of the Poolhouse collec- tive. Prior to working as a freelancer, McCarthy served as executive producer at LA’s Jigsaw Edito- rial. From ‘97-’05, she was a senior agency pro- ducer at TBWA Chiat Day, Los Angeles. Her ca- reer also includes serving as a senior producer for the Arnold agency. MCCARTHY GREG KIERNAN Avid editor Greg Kiernan has joined the team at Blue Room in New York City. He brings with him strong experience in the advertising and promo world, particularly in the Hispanic market. Kiernan has been an Avid beta and alpha tester since Version 1. He joins Blue Room from Bond in NYC where, for the last 10 years, he was senior/supervising editor. From ‘88 to ‘00, he made his home in Albuquerque, NM, where he was a partner and senior editor at :30 Second Street. WARDNER MIKE WARDNER Full-service creative studio Riot Atlanta has added Smoke artist Mike Wardner to its talent roster. He brings a wealth of experience on Au- todesk’s Smoke and Flame platforms, and is skilled in compositing, editorial finishing, color grading and offline editing.Wardner joins Riot Atlanta from Philly’s Shooters Post & Transfer, where he edited both offline and online. Prior to Shooters,Ward- ner worked with SF’s Rough House Editorial, working on commercials, feature-length films and corporate videos. He’s held positions at Quiet Man, 89/Headlight and Guava. Will Frohn is Click’s new senior designer. He has worked on projects for Ferrari, McDonald’s Mervyns,TV Guide, Xbox, and Kellogg’s, among many others, and has held positions at Digital Kitchen and Screenlife Games. Brian Paul joins the studio as senior engineer. He’s served as chief engineer at Pure and has also held engineering po- sitions at The Napoleon Group and Charlex. PETER MARIN, MARTIN LAZARO VFX house Method Studios has boosted the talent pool at its New York facility.VFX supervisor Peter Marin has worked in visual effects since ‘97, when he first joined The Mill as a Flame artist. He has since served as VFX supervisor at Frame- store CFC in Reykjavik, Iceland, Sydney’s Animal Logic and Sweden’s Redrum. From ‘02-’08, Marin was partner/senior creative artist/VFX supervi- sor/head of 2D and 3D at Stockholm Post. Senior Flame artist Martin Lazaro has over 15 MARIN years of experience in VFX. He got his start as a graphic designer at Metrovision in Buenos Aires, Argentina, designing commercials and TV shows before forming his own boutique, Dynamo Post. He later moved to Spain, where he worked on numerous high-end VFX commercials and feature film projects. She brings more than a decade of produc- tion and post experience, and will be responsible for heading up business development as well as targeting opportunities in the digital space.
