Baselight played a crucial role for LA post-house Picture Head with the post-production of director Gregg Araki’s unconventional sci-fi comedy Kaboom.
To meet tight deadlines the company opted to grade and conform the fi lm, shot with RED and edited in Final Cut Pro, on Baselight HD. The result — a simple workfl ow, saving a huge amount of time.
“If we had done this in a more traditional manner, we would have had to complete the conform and then move it over to the DI theatre — and an hour and a half of 4K material is a lot of data. Baselight allowed us to color and conform, as well as accommodate new material and experiment with effects and transitions.
