country to LA and then fully reupholstered were much higher. The white appliances arrived with yellowed plastic; the breakfronts arrived with dings in the sides. The sofas in the Richardson sunroom were custom made to get that oversized shape that was so popular then. No 1990s detail was overlooked, from the giant CRT television set and library of VHS tapes in the family room, to the Slim-Fast shakes in the refrigerator. Lisa's buyers spent many hours online tracking down '90s boomboxes, Discmans, Furbees, Beanie Babies, 90210 swag and other '90s ephemera. One of the most exciting parts of the show was the building of character within each room. The daughters' bedrooms are a perfect example of not only the building of these worlds but the collaborative nature of this project. Elena has two daughters, Lexie and Izzy. Lexie is the fi rst born who has done her best to follow in her very controlled and precise mother's footsteps. Izzy is the youngest, and an artist who is desperately trying to both display her diff erences and have them accepted by her mother. Their bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom and are the pink and lavender versions of each other, down to the Calico Corners matching wallpaper, bedspreads and curtains. Lexie's room is the showpiece that her mother intended it to be—a perfect girl's room with added movie posters and teen photos on the dresser. Izzy, however, has done her best to cover her mother's infl uence, plastering posters all over the walls and covering the furniture with as much of herself as possible. With a lot of the smaller details in the room, the audience feels Izzy's transition between child and complete rebellious teenager. There are still masks on the walls and stickers and toys which may have been cute at one time have now become surrounded by clutter. Teen rooms are especially diffi cult to get right, one of the main reasons being the clearance issues that C A B D A.
