T
here are two kinds of dream jobs. The first type
are those high-profile, high-prestige gigs that
make a career. The much anticipated, big breakthrough
moments are a kind of Hollywood legend. In reality,
such fabled jobs are few and far between, if they really
exist at all. When looked at objectively, "big breaks" are
almost always the result of many years of unrecognized
sweat and rigorous effort, and given all the benefits of
hindsight. The other kind of dream job is one that you
love for its own sake because it fits you like a glove. In
speaking to members of her crew, it is obvious that they
love working with Laura Jean Shannon. That's the case
because Shannon herself is clearly doing her dream job,
and for her that's about conjuring other people's dreams
both on and off screen.
