And yet the appetite for the increased volume of content at an accelerated pace should not come at the expense of sane professional working conditions and the high quality of work which serves as the hallmark of the members of the Art Directors Guild. The 2700 members of the ADG are committed to and working toward the highest standards of training, working conditions and visual storytelling in all aspects of the film, television and media industries. Not only is the quality of the work increasing, but also the high standards to which we hold ourselves. Technology is advancing at a more rapid pace, and the potential for workers to fall behind or be taken advantage of is growing as well. The ADG is working toward and championing gender equality in all aspects of the entertainment design process and in the industry at large. Our Women's and Diversity Committees, alongside with our Education Department and members at large, are serving as examples and leaders—and starting to make real differences in workplace issues, creating opportunities for training and mentoring, and guiding traditionally underserved constituencies into pathways for career success. The ADG is working with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Gold program to provide mentors and real-world connections. Our young workers are actively engaging members and reaching across generations to ensure standards of union skills remain high and progress as new technologies come into active use. Each of our four Craft Councils encourage active member engagement as they keep ahead of workplace issues and industry trends. Our members are striving to make a difference in representation both in front of and behind the camera. Working throughout the world, the ADG is more fully helping the industry to realize that how people are presented in the stories we create directly relates to how those individuals, peoples and cultures are treated in real life. Whether supporting our brother and sister IATSE unions in entertainment throughout North America or engaging with our local Los Angeles labor and industry organizations, we are aiming to create a stronger, more cohesive, more professional industry for today and tomorrow. We are striving to be a Guild that cares about the full well-being of our members and their continued professional growth, and while serving as examples to all storytellers and industry professionals of how to go the extra mile to maintain excellence and set the worldwide benchmark in narrative design. The work represented in each issue of PERSPECTIVE is just a glimpse into some of our members' creativity and the excitement that comes from successful accomplishments by the visual storytellers and the design teams of the ADG.
