North American Whiskies Cowboy and Cocktail Companion: Pendleton Whisky With a name like Pendleton, it's no wonder this Canadian Blended Whisky is a natural fit among the rodeo and modern cowboy set. Although the brand is born out of the 101 year-old tradition of the Pendleton Round-Up, one of the most prestigious rodeos of the year, the brawny brand has plenty of muscle in today's on-premise, mixology-driven accounts as well. After all, who doesn't like a little muscle in their mix? Oak-barrel aged and distilled in Canada from the finest ingredients, glacier-fed spring water is added at the Hood River Distillery in Oregon, where the whisky is bottled, Pendleton is a brand on the up-and-up. "Pendleton has been very well received and has a very loyal following among Western lifestyle and cowboy enthusiasts," says Keri Eliason, Marketing Brand Manager for Hood River Distillers. With a strong base in place, the brand has expanded with additional expressions, including Pendleton 1910. "We saw potential for consumers looking for something a little bit bolder," continues Eliason. "So we developed 1910, a 100% rye whisky. It still has the smooth finish like Pendleton, but is spicier with 12 years of age, which makes it very attractive to a lot of whisky consumers."
