38 • THE ARTISAN SUMMER 2019 AMERICAN GODS Photos courtesy of Starz A SEASON OF W hen they called me from American Gods, I was told they had cast a wide net looking for a new hair stylist to do season two. I instinctively said they need look no further, that they had found me. I was aware of the show but had not started watching it yet. As soon as I got home, I found the FYC DVD sent in my "to watch next" pile. I realized they had only submitted three episodes for consideration. So I turned to my Roku and started binge-watching the series on my Starz app. From the opening sequence, I was hooked and mesmerized. As a jaded film buff, it is really rare to see something truly new and different whether it is a cinematic shot or a dramatic sequence. This show is a visual feast. H A I R B Y D A N I E L C U R E T DEPARTMENT HEAD HAIR I arrived in Toronto just in time for the last blizzard of the season. I got settled in the hotel and figured out how to get around. For those of you that have not worked in Canada, there are a few complications to be aware of. During prep, I met with a few of the actors to cut and prep, local hair stylists to crew up, producers to figure out their wig budget and the costume designer to get the vibe for
