building. Law firm WilmerHale provided amazing conference rooms a few floors above the built set that could be used as often as the dense schedules allowed. And 4 WTC became the main lobby, taking advantage of the existing large-scale video walls for the show's purposes. Because news and media plays a big part in the story, the show must constantly develop its own brands. News networks and papers, digital tech companies and programming to play on the multitude of monitors on the sets. To that end we have Katrina Whalen, who works with current GFX designers Dustin Neiderman and Katya Austin, to research and source creative ways of generating the needed content. I wish I could do a whole piece on the hilarious fake news they and the writers have generated. I might as well confess, I've been writing this hastily between rolls as season two is in production, currently at Gleneagles in Scotland. The series is even more of a road show this year, and without any spoilers, I can say a number of the episodes include units abroad. I tell myself this is a perk more than an obstacle, though running multiple Art Departments with a schedule like ours can be a bit hairy, and I'm lucky to have great teams across the board. There was a longish break between seasons one and two, and as a result, there are many new faces among the crew this year. Carmen Cardenas, the season two Art Director, along with Mike Davidson (construction coordinator) and Chris Kay (charge scenic) and their terrific teams have created some really great work, most of which I'm not allowed to talk about just yet. One set build I think I'm safe to mention is a private jet, to ferry the show's entourage around the globe. I've seen a lot of plane sets over the years, but I think this one stands out for its shooting flexibility and really sharp high- end finishes. Another advance was upping the production values for content on our monitors. The rest I'll keep quiet about and hope you'll join us on the small screen for what promises to be a very exciting sophomore season. ADG A-D. WAYSTAR OFFICES. SET PHOTOS. E. ATN NEWS CHANNEL GRAPHIC.
