Ultimately, the model played prominently in a few scenes, helping to explain a motivating element of the Wilkes' character. A farm with water on it that would allow some excavating was needed to stand in for the Snells' farm. Then the farm's streams would need to be visually married with the Stone Mountain waterways so they would, through the magic of editing, appear connected as one waterway. A beautiful farm was found outside of Atlanta, owned by some great folks who also had ties to "Lake of the Ozarks" and were big fans of the show. They allowed the production to bring in some earth-moving equipment, excavators and bulldozers. With the Snell property front and center for the creation of the paddlewheel casino, Marty and Wendy Byrde and Charles Wilkes now had to talk Jacob Snell into using his property for not only the casino boat placement, but also allow their land to be used for the Wilkes' hotel development and the entertainment complex. Not only are these people ratcheting up the pressure on the Snells, but the drug cartel and the Kansas City mobsters also need this project to go through, because everybody is set to profit and benefit. This allowed the start of the very large development that would house the money-laundering casino for Marty and the cartel and also would be a significant real estate project to satisfy Charles Wilkes' ambition. Season two would conclude with a lakeside ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Byrdes, having survived all the obstacles, are finally able to open the casino. With the understanding that the Byrdes' story would continue in season three with a casino, the design of season two was orchestrated to facilitate the myriad storylines yet to come. ADG A B A.
