A F I S H O W C A S E | P E R S P E C T I V E 2 3 The AFI Conservatory's Production Design Showcase is an end-of-year annual event celebrating the design work of the second-year graduating class and the first-year designers moving into their second year. This night is open to faculty, current fellows and alumni, families and invited agents, and members of the Art Directors Guild (Local 800). It is a night for design fellows to pitch their classroom design projects and the design work they did on their thesis and cycle productions. The AFI soundstage is converted into a gallery space every year through the hard work of the Production Design fellows and faculty. It is our hope that this event will continue to attract working Art Department professionals to the AFI campus to spend some time with this next generation of visual storytellers who are ready to start their careers and enter the professional workforce. It is always a fun and social event for all who come. Thanks to all of you who attended the 2019 Showcase and to those in the professional design community, including Nathan Crowley, Rick Carter, Felicity Abbott, Carlos Barbosa, James Chinlund and Michael Corenblith, who generously shared their wisdom and experience with our fellows as guest speakers and critics during the year. And as always, the event will be here again next year, when we hope to see a large turnout from the ADG community. The Production Design fellows and their work are the show, they make the faculty proud every year. ADG D.
