MeNDOCiNO FerrAri-CArANO’s Lazy Creek Vineyards A Visit to A Owners Rhonda and Don Carano. story and photos by David Gadd glance at the map of Mendocino told me I would be in for a long, winding drive through some of California’s most unspoiled landscape. Highway 128 snakes uphill and down, plunging through dale and grove for miles, from Cloverdale to Boonville (or Boont, as it’s called in the local Anderson Valley dialect known as “Boontling”) and then on to the hamlet of Philo. It’s quite a distance from the smart boutiques of upscale Healdsburg, in more ways than one. RUSTIC MENDOCINO SIBLING IS A SPECIAL PLACE 74 / the tasting panel / june 2010
