people EREMIC JOHN 'PLINY' EREMIC Stepping into a newly-created position, John "Pliny" Eremic is now the resident workflow specialist on file-based technology and process for HBO's Post Delivery Group in NYC. He joins the company from NYC's Offhollywood (which was recently purchased by Light Iron), where as partner/CIO, he spent eight years building a next-gen, data-centric DI facility and digital lab. His credits include Beginners, Rabbit Hole, Helvetica and Frozen River. Eremic was also a stereoscopic 3D consultant for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming The Great Gatsby. Separately, he cofounded Autoglyph, maker of Endcrawlt, a Webbased tool for generating professional scrolling end credits. to Yessian, Curtin held posts with Hum Music & Sound and WMG's Rhino Entertainment before co-founding DeepMix. As EP/managing director he supervised and approved all of the company's music production and led new business development, sales and marketing efforts. FERRARO STEPHEN LARKIN 180, a creative agency with offices in Amsterdam and Santa Monica, has hired Stephen Larkin for the newly-created position of chief marketing officer at 180LA. Larkin comes to the agency from Mullen's Pittsburgh office, where he was managing director. Prior to that, Larkin worked in Boston as Mullen's SVP, brand evangelist, leading new business ventures. Larkin began his career in account management at Hill Holliday. LARKIN BERNSTEIN ABBY BERNSTEIN Abby Bernstein has joined NYC's Bang Music as producer/account executive. She will help strengthen the company's musical offerings in the spot and branding worlds as well as manage existing accounts in TV audio post. A songwriter/ recording artist, Bernstein is a third-generation musician. After graduating from Barnard College of Columbia University, she was accepted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame Workshop where, in 2010, she won the Best New Writer Award. At the same time she established her own music publishing company, licensing her original songs to MTV, VH1, ABC and HBO's hit series Girls. DAVE CURTAIN NYC-based music and sound studio Yessian has brought on 10-year industry vet Dave Curtin as their West Coast executive producer. Besides strategically developing partnerships with brands and ad agencies, he has also been behind successful projects with HP for their "Picture Book" digital photography series with Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, as well as other integrated projects. In her new role, she will oversee the management and sales effort surrounding all mixing, including for TV spots, digital and interactive media, and Webisodes. Sound Lounge also added Harrison Nalevansky as executive producer and promoted Justin "Sal" Kooy to audio engineer. Nalevansky will head up the mixing studio's downtown location, including overseeing sales, production, scheduling and client relations. He comes to Sound Lounge from Two Cats Media. Kooy began six years ago as an intern, then became assistant mixer to Sound Lounge partner/mixer Peter Holcomb. He has mixed TV shows and indie film projects. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. EMILY MALITO Backyard, in Venice, CA, has added Emily Malito as head of production. With experience in both broadcast and spots, she was previously with GO Film for five years. Her past work as producer includes many projects involving top brands, agencies and directors. Malito has also worked on teasers for Showtime's House of Lies and produced a series of PBS interviews featuring politicians and journalism icons. EVERETT BURRELL  LA's Look Effects has hired Emmy-award-winner Everett Burrell as VFX supervisor. He brings over 25 years of experience to his new position. Burrell began his career working under special effects icons such as Stan Winston, Greg Cannom and Rick Baker. He then opened Optic Nerve, a make-up effects company he cofounded with John Vulich. After embracing CGI, he joined Flat Earth Productions, where he worked on VFX for TV series. He later joined Café FX, working on VFX for films.
