products Bebob rig for Blackmagic camera MUNICH — Bebob ( has introduced the LightCage-BM rig for Blackmagic Design's Cinema Camera. The rig features parts made out of strong aircraft-grade aluminum, making it stable as well as lightweight. The Light-Cage-BM is available for $658 and can be ordered directly through A range of accessories are also available, including a shoulder pad ($126), grips ($259), an EVF holder ($392) and the Coco-15V-mount adapter ($525). Cache-A delivers LTO-6 archive solutions Active's mPath improves SAN performance M ORGAN HILL, CA — Cache-A (www. is offering an LTO-6 line of archive appliances, including the Pro-Cache6, the high-performance Power-Cache, and flexible Library 24/48 automation systems. They anticipate release for the desktop PrimeCache6 around the NAB timeframe. LTO-6 is the sixth-gen of Linear-Tape Open technology and offers a shelf life of at least 30 years. LTO-6 cartridges can hold up to 2.5TB (LTO-5 holds 1.5TB). LTO-6 drives also offer a performance hike from LTO-5: 160MB/s versus 140MB/s. Cache-A's LTO-6 systems provide backward compatibility with previous generations of LTO tape. The new boxes can read/write LTO-5 and LTO-6 cartridges and read LTO-4 cartridges. They also combine Cache-A's Linear Tape File System (LTFS) capabilities with a Web-based user interface, and maintain the same desktop and rackmount form factors as the company's previous line. They can also be network-attached. Cache-A has increased the internal disk cache storage — from 4TB to 6TB in Pro-Cache6, while Power-Cache has been upgraded from 8TB to 12TB. Internal disk storage on ProCache models can be configured for either RAID-0 or RAID-1, while Power-Cache systems can be configured for either RAID-0 or RAID-5. iZotope suite provides metering tools C AMBRIDGE, MA — iZotope (www.izotope. com) has released Insight, a new suite of audio analysis and metering tools. The tools are useful for visualizing changes made during the mixing process, as well as for troubleshooting problematic mixes, and ensuring compliance with broadcast loudness standards. Insight is fully customizable and scalable, allowing audio engineers to visually monitor all relevant information from a mix in a floating window. For broadcast work, Insight uses advanced metering technology, with meters for immediate loudness calculation and True Peak detection, loudness calculation over time, and faster than realtime offline loudness calculation. Advanced visualization and spatialization displays further aid in detecting problems that the ears cannot perceive. Also included are convenient user presets, designed for an array of engineering applications. Users can also define their own presets with preferred customizations. The plug-in includes true peak meters, loudness meters, a loudness history graph, a stereo vectorscope, a surround scope, a 2D/3D spectrogram and a spectrum analyzer. The cost of Insight is $499. New iMacs are thinner, more powerful C UPERTINO, CA — Apple's new iMacs have undergone a considerable redesign, and are now just 5mm thin (80 percent thinner) with a 75 percent less reflective screen. The reduction in size is the result of a new manufacturing process the company employs. The iMac is available in 21.5-inch and 27-inch models. The latest iMac includes 8GB of 1600MHz memory, a 1TB hard drive, third generation quadcore Intel Core i5 procs that can be upgraded to Core i7, and the latest Nvidia GeForce graphics processors that deliver up to 60 percent faster performance. There is also a Fusion Drive option that combines 128GB of flash with a standard hard drive to create a single storage volume that intelligently manages files. The 21.5-inch iMac is available with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.2GHz and Nvidia GeForce GT 640M ($1,299); or with a 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6GHz and GeForce GT 650M ($1,499). The 27-inch iMac is available with a 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6GHz and Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M ($1,799); or with a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6GHz and GeForce GTX 675MX ($1,999). In addition to USB3, the iMac is equipped with multiple Thunderbolt ports. 40 Post • February 2013 Post0213_000-productsRAV4finalread.indd 40 TORRANCE, CA — Active Storage (www.activestorage. com) is offering mPath, which adds a high-speed content movement backplane and file copy accelerator to the company's mMedia Platform by installing mPath modules into the expansion slots of mRAID systems. When connected via Fibre Channel cables, they form a high-speed dedicated backplane that offloads data movement between storage volumes. An mPathenabled SAN gives editors more bandwidth to work with, more predictability in their SAN environment, and the freedom to archive and retrieve assets around the clock. Data movement workflows are easily configured with the included mPath Actions software by leveraging the mPath API. Assets can move automatically over the mPath backplane when using mPathenabled asset management software such as Levels Beyond's Reach Engine and Axle Video's production asset manager. The cost is $11,499 per mPath module pair. 1/23/13 6:32 PM
