Winter 2019
Some people think features are
where it's at. They're entitled
to their opinion, but from
someone who has done both,
the climate is more creative in
TV, and you need to be more
resourceful doing television.
You shoot three locations in
one day and you can't afford a
company move, so suddenly
the dress shop gets signage
and product and it's a bodega.
Or the vacant office building
with the big glass doors
becomes the emergency room
at night so you can complete
the day. You plan your shots,
you dress it the morning of, you
place benches and emergency
gear in the hallway and throw
up a return wall at the end of
the hallway so no one can see
beyond it with doctors and
nurses and patients running
back and forth and poof! It's an
emergency room entrance.
I've been doing TV for 12 years
and I don't regret a minute. It
gives me time to play music
again. I have a nine-piece
mid-life crisis Chicago tribute
band that's pretty good. I put in
a lot of time on the Continuing
Education Classes for Local
399 location managers. Since
1995, we have developed 13
classes for entry level and
veteran location managers.
Classes in digital photography,
budgeting, map making,
managing, architecture,
contracts and insurance. I'm
very proud of this work and
