Fall 2018 The Costume Designer 11 Dear Members, I am so pleased to announce the ratification of our new Basic Agreement Contract August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2021. This contract was hard fought and full of improvements. The most important thing for Local 892 is the increase of benefits for hours worked on sixth and seventh days to 12 hours each. This is a battle we have fought for a long time now, and I am so pleased to announce it being accepted into our contract. As we move forward, remember there is still much to be gained and I look forward to working toward attaining those goals. This has been a good year with most of our members working. The increased television and streaming production has contributed to the high employment. As you accept jobs, please be sure to ask what contract you are working under and then remember to go online and report your work. If we don't have this information, we cannot be helpful when a problem arises. Our social calendar has been very full this year, as has our education calendar. I would like to give a shout out to our Young Workers co-chairs, Kit Peterson and Lydia Graboski-Bauer, and their committee for all the work they have done this year. Our Education Director, Ivy Thaide, also deserves recognition for her work presenting exciting and varied classes for the membership. I am so pleased to see our members taking advantage of these opportunities for increased learning and networking opportunities. As we look forward to the New Year, we have some lofty goals to accomplish. • A new database • A new website that will allow more members to interact with the office and pay by credit card online • An extended education program • More networking events • Increased members voting in elections We also will have a Guild election in 2019 for all elected positions. This includes all Officers, Executive Board, Trustees, and Delegates. I encourage all of you to become involved either by running for office or voting. I wish you all an early Happy Holidays and look forward to new beginnings in 2019!
