58 The Costume Designer Fall 2018 IN FOCUS BOLDFACE NAMES BFN - WORK Compiled and written by: Bonnie Nipar, bnipar@cdgia.com Stacy Ellen Rich, lastace@mac.com CD Christopher Lawrence achieved what he thought was the impossible when he took over Wander Darkly, a tier-1 indie film about a couple unraveling in the aftermath of a devastating car crash with a Memento-type web of flashback and fantasy. Dropped in a week into shooting, Lawrence had two days to shop and fit stars Sienna Miller in 30 changes and Diego Luna in 20. Somehow, after a 70-minute fitting with Miller and director Tara Miele, they had all but four costumes. Lawrence says, "It was quite a daunting task but so rewarding to accomplish. My secret weapon was hiring CD Leah Butler to assist/shop for the power fittings … and Sienna changes faster than anyone I've ever met!" CD Colin Wilkes, working as ACD under Canadian designer Jayna Mansbridge, just wrapped Netflix's Point Blank, shot on location in Cincinnati, Ohio. This high-velocity, action-packed adaptation di- rected by Joe Lynch, stars Marcia Gay Harden, Frank Grillo, and An- thony Mackie, and is produced by WarParty Films and Gaumont Film Company. The design team scoured the city and state shopping both new and vintage to create the characters' iconic looks. After six seasons designing The Mindy Project, CDG President Salvador Perez wanted a change from high fashion and took on Goosebumps 2: Happy Halloween. The film is set at Halloween when a magical puppet brings the Halloween decorations and cos- tumes to life. Not only did he have to design and build the costumes, Perez had to make all the props and set decorations that come to life. "With no scripted characters for the monsters, it was a great op- portunity to design some amazing Halloween costumes, including an amazing set of La Catrina dolls that were the hit of the show." Jack Black reprised his role as R.L. Stine. Salvador Perez' La Catrina dolls for Goosebumps 2
