Stoller Family Estate 2016 Reserve Pinot Noir ($50) Animal on the nose and an earthy character. The fruit is generous and the finish is long. Great complexity. 90 11. Stoller Family Estate 2016 Nancy's Pinot Noir ($70) A stunner with cherry, sweet pipe tobacco, sandalwood, and a great mouthfeel that's balanced and profound. 94 12. Sokol Blosser 2014 Big Tree Block Pinot Noir ($70) Very good with a big fruit "pop" on the nose and palate. Notes of freshly tilled soil, rhu- barb, and cranberry add femininity with roses and teeth- gripping acidity. 93 13. Sokol Blosser 2015 Estate Pinot Noir ($40) Plush nose; mouthfilling with some gamey, earthy notes and tarred roses. Very smooth. 92 14. Sokol Blosser 2014 Orchard Block Pinot Noir ($70) Great chocolate and cherry nose with amazing texture. Satin, gardenias, roses, and juicy cherry on the palate. Finishes long. 95 15. Solena 2016 Prince Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir ($60) Sweet tobacco and Asian spice on the nose with a touch of salinity. Mocha, chocolate, and cranberry with a ripe, rich, sweet berry finish. A very deep wine. 94 EOLA-AMITY HILLS Established: 2006 Planted Area: 3,000 acres (1,200 hectares) Predominant Soils: Volcanic basalt Unique Terroir: The Van Duzer Corridor benefits from the flow of cool Pacific Ocean air, which decreases temperatu- res and helps grapes retain their acidity as they ripen. 1. Coelho Winery 2016 Zeitoun Vineyard Pinot Noir ($45) A very good, light, fresh wine with mulberry and cranberry on the nose as well as dusty roses and a gentle, beautiful palate. The finish is long and balanced. 93 2. Lavinea 2015 Elton Vineyard Pinot Noir ($75) A forest-floor quality to the nose. Floral palate spiced with cin- namon. The texture is very silky and long. 92 3. Lavinea 2015 Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir ($75) A delicate, soft and graceful wine with red fruit and baking spices throughout. Very smooth, savory, and rich with a long finish. 92 4. Grochau Cellars 2015 Zenith Vineyard Pinot Noir ($33) Earthy nose with a palate of red fruit and delicate floral- arrangement flavors. The wine is light and simple yet lovely and well-balanced. 90 5. Holloran 2014 Oregon Pinot Noir ($28) A very light wine with not too much happening. There is some fruit, but it's short-lived. 88 6. Project M Wines 2016 Filament Vineyard Pinot Noir ($55) Wildflowers and red berries on the nose. Pungent white pepper and cinnamon spice on the palate with cranberry, mocha, and cherry. Very elegant and long. 94 7. Roserock 2015 Pinot Noir ($35) Dotted with salinity and straw- berry on the nose. Some earthy notes and pencil shavings alongside dusty rose petals, raspberry, and mulberry. Silky, clean, bright, and long. 93 8. Roserock 2015 Zephirine Pinot Noir ($60) The earth/cinnamon nose is highly perfumed. Dreamy notes of gardenia, lanolin, and spice. Long and elegant finish. 95 9. Stangeland Vineyards 2014 Estate Pinot Noir ($42) Earth/tobacco nose. Smoky, linear, and thin, it's OK. 70 10. Stangeland Vineyards 2016 Golden Hillside Vineyard Pinot Noir ($45) Roses and cinnamon on the nose. Smooth, rich, lush, and bold on the palate with a quick finish. 90 11. Stangeland Vineyards 2016 Vermeer Vineyard Pinot Noir Earth and cin- namon on the nose with some white pepper. The palate is rather spicy with a smooth finish. 89 12. Vincent 2016 Bjornson Vineyard Pinot Noir ($27) With lovely aromas of jasmine and cedar on the nose, it's ethereal. The palate is juicy with notes of rhubarb and cherry. Elegant, pure, and long. 92 13. Welsh Family Wines 2015 Bjornson Vineyard Pinot Noir ($38) Peppered cherry and tobacco on the nose. Floral perfume with rosebud and antique- paper notes. Very earthy, juicy, deep, and complex. 92 14. Pike Road 2016 Zenith Vineyard Pinot Noir ($50) Cherry and mushrooms on the nose along with cocoa and tobacco. The mid-palate is very racy, juicy, and tangy. Finishes long. 91 MCMINNVILLE Established: 2005 Planted Area: 1,750 acres (710 hectares) Predominant Soils: Marine sedimentary, marine bedrock, and volcanic Unique Terroir: Compared to surroun- ding areas, McMinnville is on average cooler and drier, with higher-elevation vineyards up to 1,000 feet above sea level. It also benefits from the cooling winds of the Van Duzer Corridor. 1. Coelho Winery 2016 Delfina Vineyard Pinot Noir ($45) This wine has a great, bubble-gum burst of fruit on the nose, but the palate is much leaner with orange rind, watermelon, and hints of peach. Well-made and delicious. 93
