FALL 2018 | ADVOCATE 13
Around AEA
In the first week of September, AEA
kicked off our member-to-member
organizing campaign, branded as
#EdWave2018 to mobilize voter contacts
focused on electing pro-public education
candidates who will support increasing
investment in our public schools.
Participants learned about how to have
conversations with voters when canvassing
neighborhoods and made plans in
site-based #EdWave teams. Joining an
#EdWave team this election cycle provides
you with several ways to keep fighting for
more school funding. Check with your
local association president about catching
the #EdWave at your school or work site.
Following the removal of the Invest in Education
initiative, AEA and the initiative committee created
the #INVESTinED Pledge, asking candidates to sign
the pledge to invest more money in our schools. We
also asked education activists to sign the voter pledge
to commit to supporting candidates who sign the
#INVESTinED Pledge. Sign the pledge and see which
candidates have signed the #INVESTinED pledge at
investined.com.
