B M & T ••• May/June 2018 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com 16 M eeting Planners and event organizers from across the country are always looking for unique destinations in the South to hold their meetings and events. This region of the United States is known for its impeccable hos- pitality, beautiful scenery and is home to a plethora of cultures. These qualities make the South a perfect region to hold a wide array of events from large corporate conferences to private family reunions and weddings. Meeting venues in the Southern states have upgraded over the years and gone through many renovations guaranteeing the BEST services and accommodations for an efficiently planned event. By offering a place to stay cooler during the hot summer months, meeting planners can boost attendance and create a more comfortable experience for participants and therefore, increase the success of the gathering. Culturally, the South was the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement and the crucible of jazz, blues, rock, and country and western music. States like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, The Carolina's, Tennessee and Virginia are just a few of the Southern jewels that make up this gorgeous region that many business and leisure travelers are flocking to.
