Compulsive pencil pusher that has managed to make a living at for close to forty-five years, self- taught artist, who loves a challenge, learning new stuff and working with great people. Career has ranged from editorial illustration, The New York Times Book Review, The Village Voice (illustrated the very first, if not only pro Mayor Koch article, they really didn't like him), and The National Law Journal, etc., etc., to comic books, companies that I can still recollect: Marvel (I drew the first openly gay superhero, in addition to plenty of high-profile books, worked with Lana (Larry) Wachowski cutting our teeth together at Marvel on Clive Barker's Hellraiser books. other publishers: DC, image, Malibu,Eclipse, Valiant, First and Heavy Metal magazine, etc. Did a bit of animation storyboards, The New Adventures of Jonny Quest, The Venture Brothers and Robo Cop, etc. Worked a few years (still do) in theme park world. Practical has given way to projections, but always fun -cool stuff. Commercials, so many. Everything from straight storyboards to motion designing to illustration incorporation. My favorite spots in the last few years have been for Discovery Channel's River Monsters. Films have ranged from little indies to major productions. Pitches, shooting boards, visual effects boards. Always trying my best to help the director and give them something special to work with. Working on a new graphic novel, that's way cool, I think. Hanging out with the wife, playing with the pets, going to the gym and the occasional vacation fills the void when not hunched over my drawing board and covering my paper in pencil lead. Always interested in new projects and drawing cool stuff. A D G M E E T S C O M I C - C O N TOOTH AND CLAW BY MARK PACELLA
