answering the questions of the audience, and
bringing into perspective the multitude pitfalls
location managers face daily. They shared personal
experiences about challenges in their jobs, how
they resolve issues, as well as some amusing and
informative tales.
The second panel, "Locations Are About
Relationships—The Three Pillars," provided an
in-depth discussion moderated by Creative BC's
Motion Picture Industry & Community Affairs
Manager Marnie Orr. Panelists Mike Fantasia, Eric
Klosterman, DGC Ontario's Andrew Gainor, LMGI and Ann
Goobie, LMGI and Michael Gazetas, LMGI of DGC BC dissected
the three pillars; Public Support, Crew Conduct and Practices/
Industry Relationships with Government and Liaisons. An
engaging Q&A with the attentive audience highlighted some of
the incredibly positive initiatives that the BC film community
has in motion for location sustainability, including safe
environmental practices and community goodwill.
The event reception afforded a great time for to meet one
another and continue engaging and entertaining conversations.
It was a fabulous time all around. Despite regional differences
and geographic boarders, we're all in this together!
The LMGI, with a growing membership in Canada, has begun in
its partnership with the DGC to gain the attention of location
professionals, commissions and others in Canada. This is a
positive step forward in the growth and promotion of the LMGI
internationally and raises the profile of location professionals
worldwide. The LMGI and DGC are committed to more joint
events in Canada in 2018.
