A landmark at the beaches of Nosara, Costa Rica, The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel pro- vides casual relaxation, comfort and excellent service. Internationally acclaimed architect, Benjamin Garcia Saxe, designed The Gilded Iguana's transformation. Saxe and co- owner/project manager, Jeffrey Grosshandler, collaborated to modernize this storied hotel. They have retained the essence of its 40- year history as a local gathering spot for travelers and locals, while pro- viding a 21st century experience with thoughtful touches. "The Gilded Iguana has been many things to many people," says Grosshandler. "It has been a surf hangout, a night spot, a community meeting place, and everything in between. All of these things have been considered in the re-design process. This includes the careful rebuilding of The Gilded Iguana's restaurant and bar, as it is the heart and soul of not only the property but also the larger community of Nosara." The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel has 29 beautifully redesigned hotel guest rooms, including a Surfer Suite for large groups. All guestrooms offer: innovative and secure surfboard storage, indoor/outdoor living space with balconies, indoor and outdoor showers, high speed inter- net, luxurious bedding and linens, high quality fixtures and finishes, and artisan craftsmanship. The renovation process included construc- tion of a new pool, kids pool, and pool bar by Joan Roca, top Central American "Master Pool Designer." A property-wide organic bug repellant system provides a mosquito free setting. The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel is the ideal spot for travelers looking for a variety of activities and an affordable comfortable stay. The tour desk provides free concierge service to help guests find and schedule tours, activities and transportation. Activities available to guests include weekly live music, art festivals, nightlife, surfing, mountain bik- ing, yoga and fitness classes, spa, massage and unique shopping expe- riences.
