75 SAG -AF TR A | Special Issue 2018 | SAGAFTRA.org Hats off to Legends! HONORING LEGENDS Since the first award was presented to Eddie Cantor in 1962, the Life Achievement Award has recognized some of the union's most influential members, honoring the work they have done on screen and off. "As the union's highest honor, the SAG Life Achievement Award represents some of our most talented and recognizable members. But beyond that, these icons have proven themselves to be deeply interested in helping others, whether it's mentoring, working to better the lives of people in their communities or serving their fellow members. This elite group of members truly represents our best and brightest," said Honors and Tributes Committee Chair Jenny O'Hara. S creen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award honorees are some of the most accomplished performers in the business, combining a legacy of outstanding performances with a devotion to activism and philanthropy. They represent some of the union's best-known members and most iconic performers. Each year, SAG-AFTRA's Honors and Tributes Committee selects an honoree, and each year it gets harder and harder. But despite this, Morgan Freeman's extensive and breathtaking portfolio made it clear there is no one more deserving.
