17 SAG -AF TR A | Special Issue 2018 | T he 24th Annual SAG Awards is set to be a special milestone for the show, as it will, for the first time ever, have an emcee. The performer to bear that honor and responsibility will be actor Kristen Bell, who currently stars opposite Ted Danson in NBC's The Good Place. Bell announced the gig in a comedic video posted on Twitter, where she has 2.27 million followers, and Instagram, where she has 4.2 million followers. In it, she jokes about the pressure of being the first to host the show. But some of the butterflies are real. "I am honored to be part of the SAG Awards, and am a little nervous about being its first-ever host," Bell said. "I'm so glad that I'll be in the company of my fellow actors, many of whom I've worked with before, so I know they'll be warm and supportive. It's going to be an amazing night." "We are delighted to have Kristen Bell as the first-ever host of the SAG Awards," Executive Producer Kathy Connell said. "This has been a year in which assumptions have been challenged, stereotypes have been shattered, and precedents have been broken. We decided to capture the cultural mood by casting aside one of our own traditions, and we're thrilled to have such a talented performer like Bell help us do so." CELEBRATING ARTISTS Our First-Ever SAG Awards Host K risten Another break with tradition on the 24th SAG Awards is this year's "celebration of women" inspired by those who have spoken out over the past year for creative equality, economic equality and personal and professional dignity. All 13 Actors ® will be presented by women and the Actors Stories at the top of the show will all be told by female performers, as will the actors announcing the stunt ensemble honorees and toasting the opening of the red carpet.
