Those in the entertainment industry know the ups and downs that can happen, and this new program is a fresh opportunity to reach out and help someone by just dialing your phone. A simple call lasting even five minutes can brighten the day and improve the outlook of an industry member who may be isolated, disabled or lonely at home. MPTF has teamed up with the AARP Foundation to bring this program to life with trained, friendly volunteers bringing social contact and reassurance. Isolation can have a devastating impact on a person's health, including aggravation of conditions like high blood pressure and increased depression. For more than 95 years, MPTF has been a safety net for those in the L.A. area with a number of programs that have evolved with the times from social workers to computer tutors. The Daily Call Sheet is the next step and provides a simple and rewarding way to create connections for those in the worlds of film and television, bringing together generations and creating sunlight in lives that have been in the shadows for too long. All it takes is a moment to say hi, and it could even lead to a new friendship. Anyone in the entertainment industry may be a candidate for The Daily Call Sheet, including spouses and parents. If you know someone who would benefit from the program or would love to be a volunteer for The Daily Call Sheet, please contact Maureen Feldman at (818) 876-1918 or Maureen.feldman@mptf.com. Helping someone out has never been easier, and all it takes is the phone in your hand. GUILD NEWS Local 706 hair stylists Sheryl Blum, Iraina Crenshaw and Bryn Leetch enjoyed the 5th Annual Day at the Races in support of the Motion Picture Television Fund.
