20 • THE ARTISAN FALL 2017 SHOW NEWS See you at the negotiating table, or see you in the wings! Randy Sayer This has been another banner year for Local 706 at the table, negotiating new agreements or extending contracts with a large number of our employers: CBS (which includes the KCAL & KCBS News) and KTLA (Broadcast Television), Pasadena Playhouse (Theater), San Francisco Opera and San Diego Opera (both one-year extensions), Opera San Jose, Team San Jose/ of union hourly cast members working at the Disneyland Resort. Thousands of musicians, performers, theatrical stagehands & technicians, security, hotel, food & beverage and restaurant employees, bakers & candy makers are now all working together to make things better for themselves and the rest of the folks who work at the Resort. We have recently conducted the largest survey of Resort employees ever conducted by labor, and we hope to be able to identify food, housing and transportation 'insecurities' by our members—data that we hope to put to excellent use in nego- tiations. Our Local 706 Theme Park hair stylists responded in record numbers to this survey; we had an overwhelming positive response! This coalition promises to be an important alliance that will hopefully allow all unions to work together for better wages, benefits and working conditions for our combined memberships; I am very proud to continue to represent our members in this important endeavor! 706 at the Negotiating Table Broadway San Jose, Segerstrom Center in Orange County, and we got our first-ever contract with the La Jolla Playhouse (with a similar contract at another 'venerable Old San Diego theatrical venue' in the works).
