WINTER 2017 | ADVOCATE 7 at the capitol Arizona teachers have expressed outrage over the lack of respect given to our state's educators after news that Governor Ducey gave his staff hefty salary increases after giving teachers only a 1% stipend this year. Arizona has some of the lowest teacher salaries in the nation, and this latest insult shows that addressing the state's teacher shortage crisis is not a priority for Arizona's governor. Following AEA's press conference, the Arizona Parent Teacher Association hosted a rally at the Capitol highlighting teachers who are demanding to be paid what they're worth — not the mere peanuts offered by Governor Ducey.
