The nation's largest annual civil rights conference kicks off in St. Louis with a keynote address on the State of the Urban League by President and CEO Marc H. Morial, Wednesday July 26, and culminates with Community & Family Day Satur-day July 29, with over 8K in attendance. Centered on the theme, "Save Our Cities: Education, Jobs & Justice," the confer- ence engages attendees in dynamic dialogue around: social and economic inequality across America, improving education in disadvantaged communities, increas- ing jobs and job training, health and quality of life issues that threaten the lives of African Americans and other minorities, creating quality affordable housing options, and creating small busi- ness opportunities in African American commu- nities This year, for the first time, as part of the conference's Small Business Matters Summit, entrepreneurs and small busi- ness owners who attend the Summit, will have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to the casting team from ABC's tel- evision series Shark Tank. The N.U.L. Experience Expo, which includes a Main stage featur- ing seminars, exhibitor giveaways, celebrities speaking and live enter- tainment, is open and free to the public. The Career and Networking Fair kicks off Thursday morning at 10 am: attendees can get a free LinkedIn headshot, talk to a career coach, schedule a mock interview and have resumes critiqued.
