In one study, over 69% of African-Americans surveyed reported visiting a heritage site or museum and/or attending a cultural event during their last travel experience. For many African-Americans, heritage tourism is an emotional journey that brings laughter, tears, knowledge, pride, and yes dreams and possibili- ties. For the struggle of our ancestors serves as a powerful reminder how to persevere when all else seems lost. Study after study suggests that heritage tourism plays a major role in the selection of a meeting or vacation destination.
