teractive storytelling. Perhaps not surprising, "Say It With Music" was lauded by many as one of the highlights. "'Say It With Music' has all the technical bells and whis- tles you'd expect from a VR musical, as well as that most elusive ingredient: charm," Leonard Maltin, film critic and historian, has said. The musical is currently in the festival circuit and has won the Special Jury Award at the Oxford Film Festival for "effective storytelling and execution of the medium." As expected, Howard – among so many others – is hap- py with the results. "I am very proud of the team, as it was a constant learning process up until the very end," he says. "We are all stronger artists and designers because of it." Indeed, the project served as a valuable learning experience for all involved. "Many from the 'Say It With Music' team evolved their focus to the VR medium and are pursuing other projects of similar scope," says How- ard. "I have just completed my third VR film, and more are in the works. It is incredible to be at the forefront of an emerging medium." He continues: "Being in the leadership team of 'Say It With Music' was one of the largest and most fascinating projects I have been a part of. It has elevated my thinking and skill set, as well as the cast and crew's, to a place we feel confident to take on any creative challenge." Howard attributes SCAD's president and founder, Paula Wallace, as always encouraging students and faculty to expand the boundaries of innovation and to collaborate on new creative endeavors. Her dedication to advancing student education and imagination led the charge in adding VR to our film studies, he contends. "What can I say? Innovation is in our DNA!" says Wallace. "'Say It With Music' is a cinematic marvel and a true col- laborative feat. Its debut at the 19th annual Savannah Film Festival continues SCAD's long tradition of surprising the world of cinema and advancing the frontiers of film." ●
