Such was the case at the sixth Art Beyond the Glass, held in June at the Los Globos nightclub in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. Attended by those in the beverage industry, ABTG is a celebration of art in many forms, from visual arts to live music and other performances, while raising funds for The Moth, a non-profit "to promote the art and craft of storytelling and to honor and celebrate the diversity and commonality of human experience." Bartenders came from all over Los Angeles to join together for cocktail booths with whimsical themes, including a "medical bar" with bartenders dressed as nurses and doctors administering "shots," as well as a gonzo- themed Hunter S. Thompson booth and a Chicago Cubs booth, among others. Cocktails came in many forms, from popsicles to punch to "shaving cream" from an ISI charger, served with the customer seated in a barber's chair. The art also varied across the spectrum, with photography and paint- ings sharing space with DJs and live music. Co-founder and Courvoisier Brand Ambassador Zahra Bates reflected, "Art Beyond the Glass is a reflection of the bar community in Los Angeles. Their creativity and generosity knows no bounds. Every year, I am so inspired by how much time and effort the participants pour into this event, and this year is no exception. Making our community a better place to live has always been what a local bar has offered and when they get together, they become a powerful force of change." It was a joyous showcase of cocktails and art by the people who create them, and with more than $100,000 raised over the years for arts-based nonprofits, this event was certainly a success!
