34 Choosing the "ACTOR" menu opens up a list of all the characters in a hierarchy of who has the most lines of dialog. To the left of each actor's name is an arrow symbol, and touching that opens a strip of sixteen col- ors to choose from. Each time you select a color or toggle a switch, all of the actors' lines are automati- cally highlighted. If you change scripts, close out of the script or close the app altogether, your color se- lections are still available when you reopen the docu- ment. In my opinion, this app is the most effi cient in the color choosing process. 34 SCRIPTATION Scriptation is a script reader app and annotator spe- cifi cally designed for fi lm and television production. Unlike standard PDF annotation apps, Scriptation allows users to transfer their annotations into new script revisions using a proprietary algorithm known as "transcription." This unique feature promises to "End Script Change Hell." Scriptation was created by Steven Vitolo, a Script Coordinator on Black-ish, who aims to solve ineffi - ciencies in the script distribution process, and be- lieves Scriptation can be the paperless solution for the industry. But let's look at Scriptation with our needs in mind. TOP NOTES Similar to Notability, Top Notes is a multifunction- al app for managing notes and drawing. Its menu structure is quite simple and easy to access when highlighting actors for individual scenes. But is limited to only eight colors. I had to become cre- ative in my highlighting methodology when there were more than eight in a scene. The multi-page view is very handy in accessing the scenes for the day. I found this app to be easier to navigate than No- tability. If I decide to change the order of my color scheme, I do a long press over the dialog and a convenient edit box appears.
