SAGAFTRA.org | Spring 2017 | SAG-AFTRA 35 Get Into the Game One of the goals of the PTEOE is to engage more of the SAG-AFTRA membership in union activities. With arts funding under threat, crucial negotiations coming up and the video games strike entering a new phase, member involvement is more important than ever. Want to get involved? Here are four ways members can channel their energy and inspiration into actions happening now. VIDEO GAMES STRIKE SAG-AFTRA has been ramping up the pressure on the 11 struck video game companies. From social media virtual pickets to a rally near SAG-AFTRA Plaza, the membership has been engaged in helping bring about a fair deal for voiceover and performance-capture artists. Want to join the effort? Sign up online at sagaftra.org/interactive. A CALL TO ARTS Together with the former Obama administration and AFI, SAG-AFTRA recently achieved the goal of reaching 1 million volunteer hours in service to our communities and the next generation of artists. But it's not too late to contribute. You can get started, or register mentor hours by visiting sagaftra.org/acalltoarts. GET INVOLVED SAG-AFTRA locals are regularly hosting educational opportunities, calls to action, mixers and membership meetings. The new member app is a good resource to learn about what is happening in your local. There's also local information on the SAG-AFTRA website at sagaftra.org/locals. SHOW US YOUR CARD The SAG-AFTRA membership card is a source of pride and often the jumping-off point for an exciting story. As SAG-AFTRA readies for its third convention in fall 2017, we want to hear yours. Tell us why you are proud to be a SAG-AFTRA member. Submit your inspiring story at sagaftra.org/mystory.
