Alvarez was presented with the Association of Teachers of Social Studies/United Federation of Teachers' Hubert Humphrey Humanitarian Award. HOLLYWOOD CONFIDENTIAL Ending Black History Month with a celebration, SAG-AFTRA and The Hollywood Confidential presented two panels on Feb. 28. This included, A Conversation with Issa Rae (creator and star of HBO's Insecure), pictured below with SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris. The panels drew more than 1,000 people to the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. DISABILITY IN FOCUS From left, RJ Mitte, Robert David Hall, Jason George, Orlando Jones, Danny Woodburn, Ruderman Family Foundation president Jay Ruderman, Micah Fowler and Marlee Matlin at the Nov. 1 Ruderman Studiowide Roundtable on Disability Inclusion. The gathering took place in Beverly Hills and brought together leaders from SAG-AFTRA, the entertainment industry and top academic researchers to find ways to expand job opportunities for performers and other professionals with disabilities. MEDIA ACCESS From left, Speechless casting director Susie Farris, producer Scott Silveri, producer Melvin Mar, actor Micah Fowler and comedian Cedric Yarbrough at the Media Access Awards, which were held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Nov. 18. The Media Access Awards celebrate diversity in film, television and new media by honoring, highlighting and promoting disability. Speechless received the SAG-AFTRA Disability Awareness Award.
