You have a date on September 11 D SEA has seven "Friendly Incumbent" legislators fac- ing Primary Elections this year. And three more races where candidates, recommended by their locals and affirmed by the DSEA Exec. Board, are facing primaries. In several, if they win the pri- mary, they win the General Election. In all these races, of course, if they lose the primary election, they're done. Also making Election 2012 inter- esting are the "open" seats, seats where long-time incumbents are no longer running, or new legislative districts were created this year because of population changes doc- umented during the last census. Voters always make a difference Voter turnout in primaries is nor- mally low. It may not be as low in this round of Primaries because of the large number of races where there are contenders. We can always count on DSEA/NEA members to be regis- tered to vote. And everyone who votes makes a difference. The lower the turnout, of course, the more significant is each vote. So we urge everyone who is a either a Registered Republican or Democrat to go to the polls and vote on September 11, Primary Day. Vote like it matters Check out the State's Elections page at http://elections.delaware. gov/services/voter/pdfs/absen tee. pdfto find: how to cast an Absentee Ballot; voting with special needs; how to vote without a fixed address; and infor- mation about the state's Mock Election program for students. To find your polling place, go to the County Elections Dept. web site: http://electionsncc.delaware. gov/, http: //electionskc. delaware. gov/, or http://election ssc.delaware. gov/. Polls are open from 7am to 8pm. Again, only registered voters from participating parties may vote. Who is DSEA recommending in the Primaries? See pages 9-11.
