34 ADVOCATE | SPRING 2017 Association Governance Retired Candidates Suzan Austin I currently serve as the Vice President of AEA-Retired, Co-Chair of the Chapters statewide, and Chair of the Annual Meeting Committee. I wrote the NEA Arizona M.O.R.E. (Motivate, Organize, Recruit, and Engage) grant. I want to represent AEA-Retired because I understand the concerns and priorities of retired members. To listen to you, engage in political action, outreach to members, communication about your pension, ASRS, policies, & the politicians who impact them. Qualifications? I have served on the AEA-Retired Board of 10 years and would appreciate your consideration and your vote for delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly! I have attended NEA-Retired Annual Meetings in New Orleans, Chicago, Orlando, Denver and Washington, as well as having been elected to represent you on the AEA-Retired Board. MaryAnn Goodluck No statement submitted Luci Messing As a member of AEA for over 36 years I have served in almost every capacity as a site representative to president of the Tucson Education Association. I now serve on the executive board of AEA Retired. With your vote I will represent you well at the NEA Representative Assembly. Gary Mehok My background in education includes over forty years in the classroom and coaching, and I always was involved in association work at the national, state, local and retired levels. Barbara Matteson Public education is under attack as well as health care, Social Security and Medicare. Developing the strategies to fight these attacks will be a focus of the NEA Representative Assembly and I would like to be there to contribute to that work. I respectfully ask for your vote.
