When the international traveler thinks of visiting America, the Northeast is usually first and foremost in their mind. From the great metropolitan centers of New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC, to the quaint villages and small towns of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut, this region belies the words "America the Beautiful." America is defined by the Northeast, with numerous elite institutions of higher learning, nightlife, museums, magnificent waterways and a bevy of outdoor activities that continues to attract visitors the world over. African-American's have had a profound influence in the development and growth of the Northeast with almost half of all Black Americans calling this section of the country home.
