83 The Special Olympics Motor Activity Training Program is designed to prepare athletes with severe or profound intellectual disabilities, including athletes with significant physical disabilities, for sport-specific activities appropriate for their abilities. As a unique sport-based program, the Motor Activity Training Program does not exclude any athlete. By incorporating appropriate levels of modification and partial participation, along with individualized training, skills are developed in areas of mobility, dexterity, kicking, striking, manual/electric wheelchair skills, etc. With adaptation of equipment along with assistive technology (switches) even very limited movements can allow athletes of different abilities to be included in the same event.
