By Kino MacGregor anymore whether or not I ever balanced in a headstand. And you know what, it was just about that time that I seemed to fi nd that illusive state of balance in the pose. It was as though I had the poten- tial all along but I was blocking myself with the imbalanced mental state of my own desire. Here are a few of the life lessons that I learned from my headstand journey: 1. It's a journey, not a destination—It's not about the pose. It never is. It's about the journey you go on while practicing the pose. 2. Practice, not perfection—It's called practice for a reason. You don't ever need to get it right, you just need to put your whole heart into it. 3. Relax, it's just yoga—Never judge yourself by whether or not you make a shape with your body. Start off with the attitude that all is good, that you are enough as you are, and that the practice is there to lead you deeper into your heart. 4. Non-attachment—Every pose has its time and you can't rush it. You can only show up and do your prac- tice with the faith that all is coming. Let go of the need to get the pose in any particular time and release the chains of your desire. Kino MacGregor is an international yoga instructor and the au- thor of three books.
