Each trip offers an intensive, professional-level series of tastings and cellar visits accompanied by an area expert to serve as host and educator for the duration. Each stop has a specific learning component so as to provide insight and/or insider-information. Most of the French wine region immersion trips include the WSG's industry-endorsed Master-Level programing as part of the travel package. Certificates of mastery are awarded upon success - ful completion of the final exam (taken online at a date and time convenient to the student). All trips are led by internationally-renowned experts such as Andrew Jefford, Essi Avellan MW, Gerard Basset MW, MS, Jane Hunt MW, Kerin O'Keefe and Sarah Jane Evans MW. Julien Camus, WSG President, explains: "After five years of success - fully offering unique study trips to some of the top wine regions in France, we have expanded our in-depth study programs to include Tuscany, Piedmont and Rioja. These trips give participants a taste and feel for each region's wines and wine culture that text books cannot provide. Trips scheduled for 2017 are selling quickly, with many repeat registrations from previous guests—a sign that the Wine Scholar Guild is truly delivering a unique wine tour experience." The trips include extensive high-caliber wine tastings at some of the best estates within each region and are nearly all-inclusive with full comfort hotels, gourmet meals accompanied by great wines, winery tours and tastings and deluxe ground transportation. Prices range from $3,570 to $4,290 per person, double occupancy, and each trip is limited to just 18 guests (15 for Burgundy, Piedmont and Jura).
