Lauste later successfully invented optical film record- ing for motion pic- tures, some samples still extant from the 1910-12 era! So, a tip of the hat and a heartfelt "thank you" to a man whose contributions were instrumental in creating the careers we enjoy. Edison sent a "thanks" to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the first month of their formation, May 1927.
