B M & T ••• July/August 2016 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com 12 Converse Vice President of Global Communications Terri Hines serves on The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) board of directors as a member of the Alumni Committee, which engages alumni and helps provide opportunities to further their careers. Hines is responsible for leading integrated global communications strategy, including brand, entertainment, corporate, crisis, internal and philanthropy for the Converse brand across key markets including North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America. Since its inception in 1998, The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) has provided $1.83 million in scholarships to 286 students to continue its mission to increase the number of ethnic minorities in the fields of advertising, mar- keting and public relations. Diane Calliway recently joined the Cobo Center staff as the new director of human resources and administrative services. Calliway, a Detroit native and University of Michi- gan grad, brings 23 years of human resources experience with such organizations as Jackson Hewitt and TDS/US Automotive. She brings extensive leadership in training, performance management, conflict man- agement, employment policy and labor relations. As director human resources for Cobo, Calliway is responsible for talent management, labor rela- tions, employee engagement, and safety compli- ance. She works closely with the SMG executive operations team and Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority (DRCFA) the five- member board operating Cobo Center. Marshall Jones recently joined the Fairmont San Jose as director of Sales & Marketing. Jones brings over 22 years of progressive hospi- tality experience to the position. As director of Sales & Marketing, his leadership and vision will direct hotel market positioning, continue to drive rev- enue results and increase overall guest satisfac- tion. Jones will oversee all aspects of sales, catering, advertising, public relations, revenue management, social media and marketing at the hotel. During his most recent tenure as director of Sales & Marketing at Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel, Jones oversaw the sales and marketing departments through the completion of a multi-million dollar restoration, a Fairmont rebrand and the landmark property's 100 year anniversary. MGM National Harbor, the world- class casino resort set to open later this year in Prince George's County, Maryland, is pleased to announce that Dasha Ross Smith has been appointed director of Communications. In this position, Smith is responsible for leading the resort's com- munications and social media efforts. She joins MGM National Harbor from Wells Fargo, where she served as communications lead for the cor- porate responsibility group. In this role, she man- aged a team that was responsible for internal and external communications support for environ- mental affairs, community development and com- munity relations. Prior to Wells Fargo, Ross Smith held several communications roles in hos- pitality with Hilton Worldwide and Marriott International. Megan Gaus has been promoted to vice president of marketing and com- munications at VISIT Milwaukee effective immediately. Since joining VISIT Milwau- kee in 2013 as senior director of marketing and communications, Gaus has led multiple ini- tiatives to elevate the region as a top destination for convention and leisure travel, including redesigned websites, niche-specific marketing efforts, extensive video production, and interna- tional resources. Much of her focus has been on expanding VISIT Milwaukee's digital capabilities and creative assets. Prior to VISIT Milwaukee, Gaus spent 15 years in marketing management positions in Cincinnati and Chicago, including with the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau and digital agency, Wire Stone. The highly antici- pated art and lifestyle hotel, FOUND:RE Phoenix is proud to welcome director of Operations, Kristin Banos to their esteemed executive team. Banos joins the FOUND:RE Phoenix team as an established leader in the hospitality industry, with more than a decade of luxury hotel experience. Banos began her exten- sive career in Las Vegas at renowned hotels and casinos, including The Palms Hotel and Caesar's Entertainment. Throughout her time there Banos gained experience working in all aspects of the hospitality industry. In her new role, Banos will be responsible for all daily operations at the prop- erty, including building and maintaining relation- ships with employees and guests along with identifying and offering solutions for any issues that may arise.
