ONE TRUE VINE 95 Acumen Wine 2013 Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley ($60) One of the last wines made by the late Denis Malbec, it is a fitting tribute; exquisite texture enrobes rich plum and berry flavors, smooth notes of vanilla oak and spice add subtle accents; balanced and deep, it is the equal of wines selling for five times the price. 95 Pepper Bridge Winery 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley ($60) Norm McKibben's vineyard is the cornerstone of this eastern Washington region; this dark, deep, concentrated wine is bursting with ripe plum and blackberry fruit; it is supple and has luscious texture; it is tangy and bright and masterfully balanced; a stunner. 93 Ledson Winery & Vineyards 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley ($70) Deep, ripe blackberry nose; dense, lush and concentrated with smooth texture and rich notes of spice, chocolate, blackberry and cassis; the finish goes on and on. 93 Benovia Winery 2014 Pinot Noir, Cohn Vineyard, Sonoma County ($75) Lush and juicy with dense texture and rich Bing cherry fruit; tangy and deep with hints of earth and oak; long, balanced and complex. 95 Piña Napa Valley 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Buckeye Vineyard, Howell Mountain ($85) Rich nose of black cherry and spice; smooth, expressive berry fruit and bright minerals, forest floor and deep flavors; the purity of structure showcases the special quality of Howell Mountain.
